Zoisite (the mineral family that Tanzanite belongs to) almost always comes out of the ground
as a grayish-greenish color. Then they are heated which drives off
any undesirable color and allows the beautiful tanzanite color to come through.
This lovely pear-shaped tanzanite is natural, with no heat.
